Biography of Simon Loomis
Tompkins County, NY Biographies





Loomis, Simon, was born in the town to Groton, December 7, 1825, educated in the district school, and at an early age learned the trade of mason, also carrying on a farm. In 1866 he moved into the town of Denby and bought what was known as the David Van Inwagen farm of twenty two acres, which he has made a beautiful place, In 1873 he married Evelyn R. Watkins of Danby, who bore him two daughters and one son. Mr. Loomis is a Republican, and a member of the Congregational church of Danby, and is recognized as a man of sterling worth in his town.
