Jones, James W., was born March 16, 1826, in the town of Ithaca. He was educated in the district schools and
Ithaca Academy under Professors Williams and Carr. After leaving be taught school for six years, then bought a
farm, to which he has given his sole attention since. At the age of twenty eight he married Susan Everhart, daughter
of John Everhart of Newfield. He is a Republican in politics, and takes an active interest in educational matter;
having been trustee for a number of years. He has two sons and four daughters, who are all taking prominent positions
in social and business life. Mr. Jones is a practical and successful farmer.
