Hildebrant, H. A., was born in Ithaca, September 6, 1851, a son of Charles Hildebrant, a native of Huntingdon
county, N. J., who moved to this county in 1824, being then eight years of age. In early life he followed boating,
after which he took up the business of scaling logs in Pennsylvania, then received an appointment on the police
force in Ithaca, holding the same six years, when he became a farmer in Caroline in 1860. Here he died in 1885.
His wife was Angeline Eaton, of Ithaca, and they had two children, C. A. and H. A; Charles died in 1885: our subject
was the youngest. He was educated in the district school, and has always been a farmer In 1881 he marled Alice
Owen, of Berkshire, and they have two children: Fannie and Mattie. Mr. Hiklerbrant is a Republican, and is now
serving as assessor. He is a member of Caroline Lodge No. 681 F. & A. M.
