Farmer, William E., was born in Steuben county, September 19, 1841, and has lived in Newfield since infancy. He worked at his trade of harnessmaking for ten years, then engaged in the hardware business in 1871, which he has conducted ever since, being the oldest firm on the street, having a very large store, and carrying everything in the hardware line. In 1868 he married Thirza Westmiller, cf Lansing, and they have two children: Myrtie M. and Maude A. Our subject has served as town clerk for seven years, and has also served on the School Board. In politics he is a Democrat.
