ALLEN LaMONTE, son of David LaMonte, was born in August, 1828, in Schoharie county, N. Y. When he was but a
lad his father came to Owego where they lived a few years, and then settled at Tioga Center. Allen received a common
school education. He married Mary, daughter of Amos Canfield, of Tioga; they had two children, Grace and Ellen.
About 1850 they made their home at East Waverly. Mr. LaMonte was a farmer, also was in trade in Waverly and dealt
largely in lumber. He was a member of the Baptist church. He died February 27, 1882. His widow survives him.
