Biography of Seeley Finch
Barton, Tioga County, NY Biographies





SEELEY FINCH settled near the center of the town about 1815, purchased a large tract of land and was quite prominent locally. The second town meeting of Barton was held at his house. He died in Nichols about 1834. His son, Ira, was a soldier of the war of 1812. Another son, Philip, was the first wagon maker of the town. He built a shop at Factoryville which is now standing and stifi used as a wagon shop by Amasa Finch, son of Philip.
