Biography of George S. Parsons
St Lawrence County, NY Biographies

Parsons, George S., Gouverneur, was born in St. Lawrence county, June 10, 1843. He has resided in the village seven years and has been deputy sheriff two years. He has also held the office of assessor ten years. In 1872 he married Martha A., daughter of Andrew Dodds, and they have five children: Millicent A., Ella M., Amanda H., Jessie R. and James Otis. Mr. Parsons's father was Myron Parsons of Fulton county, N. Y., and his mother was Amanda Barnes. Mr. Parsons enlisted in Scott's Nine Hundred in August, 1862. and served till the close of the war. He has been commander and quartermaster of Barnes Post No. 156. Farming is his principal business and he always resided on his farm of 220 acres, three miles from Gouverneur village on Johnson street, except during the time ho has lived in the village and his three years' service in the rebellion.
