Jones, Harvey L., Ogdensburg, was born in New Hampshire, May 23, 1840. Removed with his parents to Ogdensburg,
1852. He is a descendant from one branch of the family (on his father's side) that gave "Paul Jones"
of Revolutionary fame to the country; can trace his ancestry on his mother's side to the "Mayflower"
his grandfather on his mother's side, (William Baldwin) was a soldier of the Revolution, and was one of twelve
drawn by lot to shoot Major Andre to death, but whose sentence was changed to hanging, which took place October
2, 1780. Mr. Jones has been closely identified with public affairs; was a member of the board of supervisors many
years and chairman 1880; has been a member of the board of trustees of the village (now city) of Ogdensburg, at
Present is treasurer of the commissioners of Cranberry Lake Reservoir, and clerk of the city and hoard of education.
He was married in 1870, to Miss Ella Denison, of Minnesota, and has three children; one son and two daughters.
in politics is a staunch Republican.
