Church, Harvey, Ogdensburg, son of Samuel and Mary (Jones) Church, and subject of this sketch, was born October
26, 1788, in Bethlehem, Conn., and died November 30, 1865, in the city of Ogdensburg, N. Y. He settled in Ogdensburg
in 1808, from Connecticut, engaged in the transportation business, and in 1813 moved to Schenectady and carried
on the same line of business on the Mohawk river. In 1815 he returned to Ogdensburg and built six Durham boats
and ran them between Ogdensburg and Montreal. In 1820 he established the first hardware store in Ogdensburg. Later,
in 1832-36, he owned and ran the steamer "Blackhawk," from Ogdensburg to Dickinson's Landing. His wife
was Catharine, daughter of Richard and Hannah Freeman, of the city of Schenectady, N. Y., and was born January
25, 1790, and died in the city of Ogdensburg, N. Y., November 10, 1867. James F. Church was born in the city of
Schenectedy, N. Y., in 1814 and died in Ogdensburg in 1887. Richard F, Church was born in 1816; the other children
of Harvey Church are: Henry, born in 1824, and Mrs. Sarah E. Whitney, born in 1830.
