Abel, David, was born in Stillwater, February 13, 1828. His father, William Abel, was born in Dutchess county
and came to Stillwater with his parents, Jeremiah and Eva Abel, in 1776. William married Sarah Tompkins, and through
life was identified as a farmer. David Abel was educated in the public schools and through life has been identified
as a farmer. In 1853 he married Elizabeth, daughter of John Rathborn, and they have two daughters: Nellie and Elizabeth.
Mr. Abel is one of the self-made men of his town, taking an intelligent interest in school and church matters,
and is recognized as a man of sterling integrity, whose word is as good as his hood.
