Van Hoesen, Earnest N., was born near South Schodack, September 7, 1858. He was educated in public schools and
at Claverack. Until 1887 he was interested in the farming at home. In that year he came to Castleton as a clerk
in the forwarding business with Rudd & Van Bleet. In 1891 he bought out Van Bleet and the firm was Budd &
Van Hoesen, until the spring of 1895 when the present firm of Van Hoesen & Morey was formed. In June, 1894,
Mr. Van Hoesen married Lotta Van Denburgh, a native of the town of Schodack. Mr. Van Hoesen's parents were John
I. and Catherine E. (Smith) Van Hoesen. On both sides his ancestors were Hollanders. By superior isiness and ability
Mr. Van Hoesen has advanced to the head of one of the best forwarding houses on the Hudson, and his name is respected
every: where.
