Roberts, Addison O., M. D., was born in Brunswick, N. Y., August 7, 1846. He is a son of Abram E. and Elizabeth
(File) Roberts, she a daughter of Peter File. Mr. Roberts was educated in Albany and Bath and finished in Albany
State Normal and taught for six years. He read medicine with Dr. Swinburne of Albany and was graduated from the
Albany Medical College in 1882. He began the practice of medicine at East Greenbush where he remained a year and
a half, and then went to West Sand Lake where he remained for seven years. In 1890 he came to Bath where he now
resides. November 14, 1882, he married Maggie J. Cowan, who was born in Bath and is a daughter of James and Jean
(Bell) Cowan, both born in Scotland. James Cowan came to Albany when twenty one years of age and resided in Bath.
His wife came to Bath when nine years of age, with her parents, Adam and Margaret (Brodie) Bell. Adam Bell died
at the age of ninety one, and his wife is now living at the age of ninety four. Mrs. Roberts was educated in Albany
Normal school. To Mr. and Mrs. Roberts have been born two children; Elizabeth J., and Jenette M. Mr. Roberts has
been health other of the town and village for six years. He is a member of Riverside Lodge No. 47, K. of P. at
Bath.
