Biography of Joseph A. Leggett

Leggett, Joseph A., was born in Marmora, Canada, January 3, 1860. He came with his parents to Troy in 1864, attended the public schools and the business college and entered the employ of his father in the manufacture of paper boxes, in which business he became a partner in 1882. He is a member of afl the Masonic bodies, and was master of King Solomon Lodge, F. & A. M., and upon retiring from office was presented with an elegant past master's 5ewel. He is also a member of the Elks, a trustee of the Fifth Avenue M. E. church, a director in the National Bank of Troy, treasurer of the Troy File Company and a director of the Troy and Cohoes Shirt Company. Mr. Leggett is a staunch Republican and is at this date, 1896, chairman of the county committee; he is also a member of the Pafraets Dael and the Riverside Clubs. In July, 1896, be was elected president of the Empire State Paper Box Marntfacturers' Association. In 1880 he married Mary Belle Davis of Troy, by whom he has two daughters.
