Johnston, C. A., whose position as postmaster attests the popularity in which he is held, is a son of Alonzo
L. Johnston, the well known manufacturer. He assumed control of the post office immediately after his appointment
in 1892. He was educated in the high school of Hoosick Falls, where he was born in 1860 and went into his father's
store at the age of nineteen, where he still remains. He has practically managed the establishment, his father
being occupied with other enterprises. He is an attendant at the Presbyterian church and a member of the Hoosac
Club, was married in 1882 to Mary L., daughter of Henry C. Thayer. Their two children are as follows: Mary T. aged
twelve, and Bessie L. aged seven.
