Farr, Adam J. was born in Jefferson comity November 15, 1841. He was a sailor on Lake Ontario, and in February,
1862, enlisted in Co. A, 81st N. Y. Vols. He was in the desperate engagement at Fair Oaks, and was engaged more
or less in the other Seven Days battles preceding the retreat to Harrison's Landing, where he was soon after taken
sick and sent to Georgetown Hospital; when partially recovered he was placed in the Convalescent Camp, from which
he was discharged. In 1892 Mr. Fan attended the United States encampment of the G. A. R. at Washington, and from
there visited Richmond and the battle ground where he had fought thirty years before, bringing home to his family
many relics of those bloody encounters. He is a member of the G. A. R., and is a trustee of school district No.
7, In 1869 he married Anna King, who has borne him three children: Norman, who married Mrs. Mattie Simmons; Augusta,
and May (Mrs. Charles Padden). Mr. Farr's father was Charles, and his mother died when he was an infant.
