Clark, Benjamin, was born in Pittsburg, Canada. in 1818, son of Henry Clark, one of five sons of John P. Clark
of Mohawk Valley, who was a farmer and later moved to Canada with his family. Henry was also a farmer. His wife
was Pearl Curl, and their children are Henry, John, Charles, Robert, Benjamin, Matthew, William, Peggy, Hetta and
Betsey, all of whom are now living. Benjamin began for himself at the age of sixteen by working in the lumber woods;
from twenty to twenty five was a sailor on the lakes, since which time he has been engaged in farming. In 1853
he came to Hastings and purchased the farm of sixty acres where he now resides. In 1848 he married Mary Enn Shepard
of Canada, and their children are George, Matthew, John, William, Charles, Lewis, Clark, Mrs. Elizabeth Bell, Mrs.
Margaret Donahue, Mrs. Eliza Vickery, Mrs. Mary Cory. Mrs. Sarah Farrar, Mrs. Clara Fidler.
