Ball, William A., of the town of Mexico, was born in Onondaga county in 1541, and came with his parents to Oswego
county in 1850. He followed teaching a few years, and in 1864 enlisted in the service of the United States, and
served with the U. S. Steamship Lancaster of the Pacific Squadron fourteen months. After the war he resumed beaching
school, and married in 1867 Emeda Calkins, since which time has resided on his present place. Subject's paternal
great grandfather, Joseph, came from Connecticut to Herkimer county, where subject's grandfather, Joshua, and his
father, Ora C., were born, the latter in 1804. Ora C. Ball married Nancy Austin in Herkimer county, lived there
and in Onondaga county till 1850, when they located in Mexico. He died in 1877, and his wife in 1855.
