Baker, Howard F., was born in Oswego county, June 23, 1852. His grandfather was William, who was born in Connecticut,
and died here, aged sixty nine. His father was Francis W., also of Connecticut, who married Amerilla Z. Richardson
in Vermont. They are the parents of Howard F., Clayton L., Coral C., William G. Francis W. was a soldier in the
late war, is a member of the G. A. R., and has served as town collector; he is now seventy years of age and his
wife is seventy three. Howard F. was educated at Sandy Creek, and was engaged in the construction department of
the R. W. & O. Railroad, and also in the sash and blind factory at Lacuna. In 1877 he began as clerk in the
drug store in Lacona where he remained ten years, when he opened a drug store which he still conducts, carrying
a very complete stock. In 1871 he married Arabelle, daughter of Frederick and Lydia (Butterworth) Smith of Lacona,
and they have one child, Nellie B., born in 1872, now the wife of Frank Hadley of Lacona and the mother of one
child. Mrs. Arabelle Baker died April 25, 1873, and October 22, 1883, he married Alice L., daughter of Nathan and
Ruth Davis. Nathan Davis died January 12, 1892, aged sixty years; Ruth is still living, aged sixty two years.
