Babcock, George D., was born in Jefferson county in 1834. His parents, Joshua A. and Laura (Holmes) Babcock,
were natives of Rhode Island and Vermont respectively, and died in Jefferson county. In 1861 George D. married
Mrs. Mary E. Babcock, born O'Neill, a native of Seneca county. By trade, Mr. Babcock is a manufacturer and dealer
in pumps; he came to Mexico in 186:3, and was postmaster during Cleveland's first term, and has since been in the
State Forestry department (1892) and the dairy branch of the Agricultural department.
