Platts, John, was born in Rutlandshire, England, July 26, 1847, and came to America with his parents in 1852.
They first settled in Ohio, near Dayton, but afterwards went to Canada. At the age of thirteen John Platts went
to work at paper making in Georgetown, Ontario. He afterwards removed to Rochester and then to Medina. He has been
a marble cutter since 1864. In 1871 he and his brother, Thomas, purchased the marble business which they now conduct
so successfully. In 1869 Mr. Platte married Nancy M. Mace, and they have a family of one son and four daughters.
