McKennan, Dr. Hugh, son of Ezekiel, who was long a resident of Carlton, was born in Richfield Springs, N. Y.,
February 27, 1827. He was graduated from the Buffalo Medical College in 1848, and the same year located in Lyndonville,
where he practiced as Dr. Horace Phipany's successor until 1865, when he removed to Muskateen, Ia. There his wife
died in 1878, and he went to Syracuse, where he died August 18, 1886. His wife was Hattie Swift, a native of Yates,
and by whom he had four children, all deceased. The family are all buried in the Lynhaven Cemetery in Lyndonville.
Dr. McKennan was a skillful surgeon, a talented writer, and an excellent scholar and fine speaker.
