Hitchcock, Daniel, was born in Columbia county, February 17, 1837. He taught school several terms before engaging
in the railway business. He came to Knowlesville in 1863, and has been station agent here ever since. In 1860 he
married Mary M. Lewis, who died in 1877, leaving two Sons and two daughters. In 1879 Mr. Hitchcock married Mrs.
Ella S. Reed. His father was Julius V. Hitchcock, and his mother, Delia Hilt. Julius V. was a schoolmate and life
friend of Samuel J. Tilden, and the Hitchcock family have been in America since the days of the Pilgrims.
