Cole, David, was born in Eagle Harbor, March 22, 1860, a son of Aaron Cole, born in England in 1834, who came
to this country in 1854 and settled at Eagle Harbor. where he was in the boot and shoe trade for many years, and
later took up other branches of mercantile life. He died in 1683. He was also postmaster at Eagle Harbor fourteen
years. Our subject's mother was Jane Stinson, born in Ireland in 1832, who came to America in 1850, and settled
at Albion, where she married Aaron Cole in 1856. Their children were: Samuel, born in 1858, died in 1866; David,
our subject; James, born in 1862; Samuel, born in 1865, died in 1868. David attended the district school at Eagle
Harbor, then took a course at the Rochester Business University. He first engaged in business with his brother
in the canal supply store, which they conducted two years. They also ran a grocery wagon on the road. About 1885
they left the canal store, then opened a general store for a year, and then David bought his brother's interest
and conducted the business alone for four years. He was postmaster at Eagle Harbor from 1883 to 1885. In the spring
of 1891 he closed out his grocery business and bought the farm where he now lives, a mile and a half west of Eagle
Harbor, the place comprising 100 acres. Mr. Cole is a membcr of the A. O. U. W. at Eagle Harbor, Daniels Lodge
No. 224. March 23, 1892, he married Minnie L., daughter of Leonard Wells. She was born April 28, 1869.
