Brennan, Lawrence, was born in Ireland in 1832, and came to America in 1854. He landed in Lockport, went to
Niagara Falls, and worked on the old Suspension Bridge. He came to Medina in 1854 and learned the blacksmithing
trade which he has successfully carried on a business in this line adding to it the carriage making and he has
also accommodations for 100 horses. These stalls are in the basement of the three story brick building devoted
to his extensive business. In 1856 he married Miss. Catherine Degnan. They had ten children. Three are living:
John D., the present postmaster; Mary, an accomplished pianist, and Emma. His first wife died in 1870 and in 1872
he married Miss Margaret Hanlon, who had been a successful teacher for several years in our public schools. Mr.
Brennan has also been trustee of the village for several terms.
