Taylor, Cortez, was born in Bennington county, Vt., July 24, 1825. His father, Joel Taylor, came to Niagara
county in 1859; he married Olive Field and through life was a farmer and served his town as postmaster; they were
both natives of Vermont. He was ever ready to aid any enterprise intended to benefit his town and townspeople and
took an active interest in school and church matters; he died in 1859. Cortez Taylor was educated in the common
schools and in 1859 married Eliza A. (born in Canada), daughter of John N. Hutchins and wife, natives of Vermont,
and they have three children: John C., Mrs. Grace Woolfall and. Mrs. Mary T. Long.
