Rand, James H., son of Calvin G. and Almira H. (Long) Rand, was born in North Tonawanda, N. Y., May 29, 1859, and was educated in the public schools of his native village and at the State Normal School in Brockport. Leaving school he became a clerk in the banking house of Evans, Schwinger & Co., and their successor, the State Bank of North Tonawanda, rising to the postion of teller. On the organization of the Lumber Exchange Bank in 1886 he was made cashier of that institution and held the position until 1894, when he established his present private banking business. Mr. Rand has been eminently successful as a banker, and is one of the most prominent business men in North Tonawanda.
