While in Brooklyn he became a member of the Kings County Medical Society, and is now a member of the Jefferson County Medical Society. He held the office of coroner of Jefferson county in 1888-91, and in 1883 was commissioned assistant surgeon and first lieutenant of the 39th Separate Company, from which office he resigned in 1894.
