Osburn, W. H., was born in Cape Vincent, August 16, 1864, a son of Orlando F.
Osburn (born in the town of Clayton), who was a farmer. Orlando F. married Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Fair,
who was a manufacturer of potash. W. H. Osburn was educated in the common schools and then learned the miller's
trade. In 1891 he bought the Evans Mills, selling out his interest in 1895, when he came to Adams and purchased
the Adams Mills; in 1896 he purchased the Woodville Mills and makes a specialty of custom trade, feed and handling
of grain. In 1888 he married Mary C., daughter of M. E. Casler. Mrs. Osburn died October 31, 1895, leaving three
sons, Leon C., Gaylord F. and Kent M; the latter died November 13, 1897, aged two years and one month. Mr. Osburn
has served as trustee of the town and takes an active interest in educational and religious enterprises, having
ever advanced the best interests of his town and its people.
