Manville, Dr. George P., was born in Smithville, December 3, 1863, a son of M.
D. Manville (born July 4, 1833). Dr. M. D. Manville was educated in the common schools and engaged in the study
of dentistry. In 1862, he enlisted in Co. I, 10th N. Y Heavy Artillery, serving until 1864, when he received an
honorable discharge. In 1867 he settled in Adams and has followed his profession of dentistry up to the present
time. In 1852 he married Elizabeth, daughter of J. L. Hall; she died in 1864, leaving one son, George P.; Dr. Manville
after her death married Sarah M., daughter of Russell M. Jones. Dr. Manville has served as trustee of the village
eight years and was elected president in 1897. Dr. George P. Manville was educated in Adams select schools and
at Adams Collegiate Institute, and graduated from the New York College of Dentistry in 1886, beginning practice
in Camden, In 1889 he came to Adams and is now associated with his father. In 1886 he married Ella M, daughter
of James H. Huffstater, and they have two children, Harry H. and Marion E. Dr. George P. Manville is one of the
conservative men of the town, was elected trustee in 1890, and takes an intelligent interest in educational and
religious institutions.
