Holmes, Fred T., was born at Philadelphia, Jefferson county, N. Y., October 31, 1859, and was educated at Hungerford
Collegiate Institute in bookkeeping and banking. In 1883 he engaged in partnership with his father, who afterwards
retired, being succeeded by Wallace W. in 1891, and the firm of Holmes Bros. was formed, which at the present time
are the leading merchants in Redwood. In 1887 Mr. Holmes married Mary C., daughter of C. Ahles, and they have two
children, Alfred Raymond and De Etta. Mr. Holmes is one of the representative business men of Jefferson county,
serving as town clerk and notary public and supervisor for five terms. He is recognized as a man of sterling integrity
who has ever aided and advanced the best interests of his town and its people.
