Fuess, Frederick, a native of Germany, was born May 23, 1841. In 1864 he emigrated to this country and settled
in New York city, where he remained for three years and in 1867 removed to Watertown and entered the employ of
Nill & Jess as a clerk and remained in that capacity for three years. In 1873 he formed a copartnership with
W. O. Baker under the firm name of Fuess & Baker; Mr. Fuess succeeded the firm in 1884 and has since conducted
business alone. Mr. Fuess carries a full line of groceries and provisions and is considered one of Watertown's
leading merchants. He was elected alderman in 1897.
