Eggleston, Gilbert, was born in Antwerp, N. Y., December 20, 1828, son of Perry, son of Asa Eggleston. Perry
Eggleston was born in Washington county, N. Y., in 1793, and came to Champion, N. Y., in 1825, and settled on a
farm now owned by our subject, where he died April 29, 1871. His wife was Sallie Colburn, of Champion, and they
had seven children. She died May 25, 1874. He was in the war of 1812. Our subject was reared on a farm and educated
in the common schools. He is a blacksmith by trade, also owns a farm of 295 acres, keeping a dairy of forty cows.
Mr. Eggleston is a Democrat in politics. He is a member of Antwerp Lodge, No. 226, F. & A. M., and also of
the Grange. In 1868 Mr. Eggleston married Lois Carmey, of Antwerp, by whom he had eight children: Jennie, G. Eugene,
Bennie, William, Libbie, Perry, Grover and Hazel.
