Dixon, William, was born in Lincoinshire, England, October 31, 1823, and came in 1832, with his parents, Edward
and Sarah Dixon, to America, settling in Ellisburgh, and in 1847 came to Adams, where Edward was identified as
a farmer and died in 1851. William Dixon was educated in the common schools and carried on farming until 1843,
when he learned the carpenter's and joiner's trade. In 1860 he began the manufacture of shot guns and rifles, and
in 1893, established his machine shop. Mr. Dixon is a self-made man, of conservative character and of sterling
integrity, whose life has proved his word as good as his bond.
