Cornell, Leon L., was born in Worth, N. Y., May 28, 1865, a son of Edward and Maria M. (Dayton) Cornell. His
father was a native of Athens and his mother of Rossie, and in 1849 they came to the town pf Worth, being the first
settlers of Worth Center. He engaged in the manufacture of lumber and owned about 2,000 acres of land. He carried
on an extensive business for a number of years. He and his wife had four sons and one daughter, all now living.
He died October 30, 1894, aged sixty.eight years, and his wife died December 15, 1894. Leon L. was reared in the
lumber business and educated at Adams Collegiate Institute and was graduated from the commercial department. He
taught school severaL years and has since been a manufacturer of lumber. December 24, 1891, he married Winogene
Hughes, daughter of A. C. Hughes of Rodman, and they have one son, Arnold D., born January 18, 1896. Mr. Cornell
is a Republican in politics and has been supervisor in 1891 and 1892. He is a member of Rodman Lodge No. 506, F.
& A. M., and of the I. O. O. F. They attend and support the Congregational church at Rodman.
