Ball, Henry M., one of Watertown’s most respected and honored citizens, was born in the town of Rutland in June,
1820. He removed to Watertown when a boy and was educated in the public schools and attended one term at the old
Watertown Academy. In 1839 he was offered a position in the store of Stephen Johnson at Depauville, which he accepted
and continued there for two years. This was his first business experience, and in 1841 he returned to Watertown
and associated with Waiter N. Woodruff in the grocery business. After two years of mercantile life in this line
the firm was dissolved and he returned to the farm, where he remained for several years. Mr. Bali has been twice
married, first, to Mehetabie Burnham in March, 1843; she died died in April, 1871, and in 1873 he married Eunice
D. Drullard, of Buffalo, N. Y.
