Babcock, Henry H., president of the H. H. Babcock Co., was born in Madison county, N. Y., in March, 1821. When
he was yet an infant his parents removed to Jefferson county, and in 1843 he removed to the village of Watertown
(now city), where he has since resided. His first business experience on his own account was the lumber trade at
Felt's Mills, where he remained until he settled in Watertown in 1843. He then engaged in manufacturing pumps.
In 1880 his present business was organized, and in 1882 was incorporated, Mr. Babcock being elected president,
in which capacity he has since served. In 1841 Mr. Babcock married Eliza, daugh. ter of Joel and Betsey Wheeler,
of Leroy, N. Y., and to them have been born four sons and four daughters, three of the sons being connected with
their father in business.
