Torrey, Amos G., p. o. Le Roy, N. Y., was born in Gorham, N. Y., August 4, 1838, and was engaged in the wholesale drug business. He went to Europe a number of times and reported for the New York World and Brooklyn Eagle. He married Clara, daughter of Harrison Osborne, a native of Le Roy, who was a dry goods merchant there. Their children were: Samuel, who died in 1893; Amos G. and Clara B. Mr. Torrey died in 1880. He did a large amount of literary work, contributing many articles for the leading magazines.
