Ferdinand Dorf was born in Germany and came to America about 1852, settling in Elba, and engaged at farming.
He enlisted in Co. H. 8th N. Y. H. A., and was killed at Cold Harbor, June 3, 1864 He had four children, three
sons and a daughter. Frank, son of Ferdinand,. has been in the dry goods business for seven years, six years in
a general store. August 26, 1889, he opened a dry goods store at 107 Main street, and keeps a full line of dry
goods, carpets. etc. He was born August 8, 1856.
