Richard Stevens, a native of Devonshire, Eng., married Ann Creamer, and they had eight children, viz.: Richard,
John, William, Samuel, Simon, Grace, Mary, and Ann. William married Frances Kelland and their children were William,
Anna M., Frances, Mary E., Grace, Caroline, Richard, Jane, Matilda, John, and Harriet. John, thç subject
of this sketch, married, first, Mary A. Rattenburg, of Devonshire, Eng., by whom he had two sons, John A. and William
A. His second wife was Ellen, daughter of William and Jane (Webber) Grimshaw, of Devonshire, Eng., and his children
by her were Sumner R., Mary E., and Frederick J. Mr. Stevens, who is now a resident of Oakfield, came here from
Devonshire, Eng., in 1852, and has been town collector one year and trustee of Oakfield corporation four years.
