Saxton Bailey came to Darien in 1806, with his son Joshua, and bought 600 acres of land where Charles C. Magry
now lives. His family came in 1808. His son Daniel came in 1808, and served as a captain in the War of 1812. He
was a Presbyterian, and built the church at the Center Joshua Bailey was also an early settler. He was a farmer
of much industry and accumulated a great deal of property. He sold his farm and. started a school at the. Center.
