Bela Armstrong, who served as captain in the war of the Revolution, was a native of Franklin, Conn., and removed
from that place to Perry, N. Y., where he remained until his death, at. the age of 80 years. His children were
Sanford, Fitch, Laurens, and Gates. Laurens, also a native of Connecticut, went first to Wheatland, and afterwards
removed to Oakfield and settled on a farm, where he remained until his death, at the age of 75 years. His wife
was Fanny Ladd, by whom he had five children: Fanny, Fidelia, Addison, Sheldon, and Herbert E. Sheldon married
Ellen M., daughter of Hamilton Gifford, of Oakfleld, and their children are Katie B., Mary G., Fitch L., Frank
R.. Charles, Wilber J., and Bennett S. He is now a resident of Oakfield village. Addison, another son of Laurens
Armstrong, was born in Riga, Monroe County, and came to Oakfieid in 1882. His first wife was Nancy A., daughter
of John and Desire (Wolcott) Smith, of Oakfield. His second wife was Jane A, daugh ter of Henry and Elizabeth (Asmond)
Pask, of Lincoinshire, Eng.. and his children are Mary L., John S., Elizabeth, and Fanny N. He is now a resident
of Oakfield village, and has served as supervisor two years.
