Anslem Lincoln, born at Cohasset, Mass., January 19, 1794, was a soldier in the war of 1812, and came to Malone
in 1815, having been twelve days in making the journey from Boston. There were then only twenty houses on the east
side of the river, and but a slightly larger number on the west side. Mr. Lincoln began business here as a shoemaker,
and then as a tanner. He mingled hut little in public affairs. but was an exemplary citizen. He died October 20,
1888.
