Edmond Hector Harvey. - Among the dependable business men of Tupper Lake is Mr. Harvey, who is proprietor of
Harvey's Pharmacy on Park Street. He was born in Pennsylvania, Sept. 9, 1885, the son of Peter and Flora (Grennon)
Peter Harvey was born in Quebec, Canada, Oct. 16, 1858. He came to the United States in 1883 and settled in the
northern part of Pennsylvania, where he had extensive lumber interests. Mr. Harvey was married in 1881 to Miss
Flora Grennon, the daughter of Paul Grennon, of Quebec. To them were born nine children, as follows: 1. Edmond
Hector, the subject of this sketch. 2. Emily, born June 24, 1887, the widow of Frank Martineau, lives at Tupper
Lake. 3. George, born March 28, 1889, a representative of the Prudential Life Insurance Company, lives at Tupper
Lake. 4. Olive, born Aug. 21, 1891, married William Penney, an architect and civil engineer, lives at Chicago,
Ill. 5. Jennie, born June 26, 1892, the widow of Eugene Austin, Jr., lives at Tupper Lake. 6. Harry, born April
11, 1894, served during the World War and died at the Federal Veterans Hospital, Tupper Lake, Dec. 24, 1930. 7.
Laura, born April 13, 1896, died in 1925, was the wife of Earl LaRoche, of Tupper Lake. 8. Hazel, born Jan. 28,
1898, married Robert Carothers, lives at Syracuse, N. Y. 9. Eve, born May 28, 1900, married Leslie Cregier, certified
public accountant, lives at Schenectady, N. Y.
Edmond Hector Harvey received his education in the public schools of Tupper Lake, but at an early age left school
to work in the lumber camps of northern New York. Later, he became proprietor of the Canadian Hotel at Tupper Lake
and in 1913 he purchased the Windsor Hotel, which he managed for six years. Mr. Harvey then became a forest ranger
in the State Department. In 1924 he became associated with Leon C. Monakey as proprietors of a drug store, and
after three years, Mr. Harvey became sole owner of the business.
On Aug. 29, 1907, Mr. Harvey was united in marriage with Miss Anna Burke, the daughter of Thomas Burke, of Tupper
Lake. Their daughter, Olive, was born May 11, 1918, and attends Tupper Lake High School.
Mr. Harvey is a Republican and for two years held the office of tax collector. He is a member of the Catholic Church,
and belongs to the Knights of Columbus, Knights of St. John, B. P. O. Elks, and Rotary Club. He also holds membership
in the Tupper Lake Fish and Game Club and Tupper Lake Sports Association.
