Moses W. Field, son of William, who lived in the Broughton neighborhood in Malone, and then in Bangor, was born at Watertown, and located at Detroit, Mich., at an early age. He accumulated a fortune estimated at half a million dollars, and was elected to Congress in 1872 as a Republican. Later he became a Greenhacker, and had more than any other one man to do with the nomination of Peter Cooper for the Presidency. He died at Detroit March 14, 1889.
