J. Foster Atwood, born in Royalton, Vt., came to Malone in 1849, and became one of the town's best known, most
successful and best liked farmers. Genial, companionable and always eager to do a friend a service, and intensely
interested in music, he won general esteem, and enjoyed a wide popularity.
