Ashe, Jno., son of Jno. and Catherine (La Chappel) Ashe, was born at Long Point., Canada East. Jan. 28. 1817. Came to Essex county in 1839. Is a farmer and owns 200 acres of land. Was married Nov. 27, 1849, to Elizabeth Paranteau, daughter of Noel and Judict (La Valle) Paranteau. Children ten living: Alfred N., Jane E. (now Mrs. Jerome Bean), of Keeseville, Adaline E., Jno. Henry, Eugenic D. (now Mrs. Jno. A. Rivers), of Chesterfield, Ellen, M. Melvina, L. Philip, George and Frank.
