Taylor, Joseph A., Hamburg, was born near the village of Hamburg, N. Y., February 26, 1846. He was educated
in the Hamburg Academy, and learned the trade of carpenter and joiner; he also now includes the moving of buildings.
January 16, 1864, he enlisted in Co. M, 24th Cavalry N. Y. Vols., and was honorably discharged at Cloud's Mills.
Virginia, July 19, 1865. October 14, 1874, he married Jennie L. Smith of Buffalo, and they have two children. Grace
L. and Annie M. Mr. Taylor's father, Joseph, was born in Spencertown, Columbia county. N. Y., in 1797. He was a
mason and a farmer, and in October, 1828, he married Mary E. Pratt, who was born November 6, 1806, at Saybrook,
Conn. They had ten children. Mr. Taylor was a soldier in the war of 1812, and died June 28, 1887, his widow March
19, 1891.
