Biography of Alvin D. Stebbins


Stebbins, Alvin D., East Hamburg, p. o. West Falls, was born in the town of Royalton, Niagara county, N. Y., December 20, 1833. He was educated in the public schools and was a farmer by occupation. February 15, 1860, he married Hannah Green and they have two children: Frank A. and Hollis A. Frank A. is the farmer at home; Hollis A. married Sarah Cluge, and they have one son, Abram K. Mr. Stebbins's father, Oliver Stebb ins, was born in Conway, Mass., in the year 1801; he was educated in the schools of that day and was a farmer by occupation. He married Laura Dinsrnore, and first came to Middlesex, and soon after to Niagara county. They had nine children: John, George W., Hollis, Cordelia, Alvin D., Asa, William and Maryette. Mr. Stebbins died in 1878 and his wife in 1874. Mrs. Stebbins's father, Stephen Green, was born in Washington county in 1807; he came to Niagara county with his parents when seven years old and was educated in the district schools. He married Arvilla Griswold and they had five children: Sylvia, Salmon, Harriet, Emily and Hannah. Mr. Green died in 1873 and his wife in 1842.
