Biography of Mrs. Caroline B. Robinson


Robinson, Mrs. Caroline B., Hamburg, p. o. Big Tree.-The late Nathan P. Bristol, father of Mrs. Robinson, was born in Bennington, Vt, April 22, 1783, and went to Grand Isle, Vt., with his parents when a child, where he was educated in the schools of that day. In 1807 he married Rachael Cummins of Champlain, N. Y., and they had eleven children: Annie, Adoniram E., Eliza, Harriet, Adoris P., Julia B., Sarah M.. Adeline, Rachael, Caroline and Rena S. Four of them are dead. Sarah M. married Manly Cole, Rachael married Franklin B. Smith, Caroline married Ellicott B. Robinson of Grand Isle, Vt. He was a soldier in Co. I, 6th Vermont Vols., and was honorably discharged from the V. R. C. at Fortress Monroe. He was a prominent member of the Masonic order and died in 1883. Mr. Bristol and family settled on the homestead at Big Tree after a year's residence in Canada in 1809. Mr. Bristol died November 4, 1867, and his wife February 3, 1861. He served in the war of 1812-15.
