Biography of Reuben Potter


Potter, Reuben, Hamburg, p. o. Lakeview, was born in the town of Hamburg, N. Y., April 22, 1855. He was educated in the district schools and has always followed the occupation of farming. September 9, 1875, he married Ida Buxton, and they have three sons: Herbert V., Everett H. and Roy L. Mr. Potter's faiher, Reuben, was born in the eastern part of the State in 1809. He married Cynthia Simmons, who was born in Vermont in 1813, and came on the canal to Buffalo in 1829. They had nine children: Mariett, Mary, Melissa, Henriett and Martha, are dead; Armina, Joseph, William and Reuben are still living. Mr. Potter, sr., died in 1871 and his widow in 1886. Mrs. Potter's father, Braley K. Buxton, was born in Vermont in 1818 and came to this State when a boy. He married Harriet E. Phillips. Mr. Buxton died in 1878 and his widow in 1881.
